Wooden document no. 179: Waka poems in the man’yōgana script on wood

This wooden board has waka poems in the syllabic man’yōgana script. The front reads “Come spring, to go […]” and the back “Oh dream, darling, speak soon […] exchange […]” It is an exchange of love poems. It is the northernmost poem on wood from ancient Japan.
