Wooden document no. 22: Wooden board of the Kazusa Province military commissioner

This is an administrative report on wood about the night watch guarding the east gate of the outer wall, written by a military commissioner (buryōshi/kotorizukai) in command of soldiers, dispatched from Kazusa Province (present-day Chiba Prefecture). This historical document shows that troops were sent from the Kantō region to defend and support the northernmost Akita Fort, and also indicates the close relationship and exchange that happened with the Kantō region.
