Lacquer-Permeated Document no. 26: Akita arms register

This is a register for managing the weapons and arms produced in the various districts of Dewa Province and sent to and kept at Akita Fort. It lists the number of “bows,” “arrows,” and “quivers.” “Dairyō” and “shōryō” are the titles of the district officials who sent the weapons and arms. “Kami” and “shishō” are the titles of the provincial officials who checked and managed the weapons and arms. This is an important historical source that shows that Akita Fort was a key military base that gathered weapons and arms inside Dewa Province.
