Various Clay Figures

The Isedotai Jomon Museum exhibits a great number of clay figures excavated in the Isedotai sites and other sites in Kita-Akita City. The abundance of clay figures is one of the characteristics of this archaeological site, as there are few places in Japan with that many clay figures.
Flat Clay Figures
Clay figures with flat bodies are called flat clay figures, but they have a non-flat head with a well thought design. This flat clay figure at the center of the photo has become the icon of the Isedotai site. At the entrance of the museum, visitors meet the 12-times enlarged replica of this flat clay figure.
