Yoshinobu Satake, the first federal load of Akita, came into Akita in 1602 and built Kubota Castle in this area in 1603.
Hommaru (the center of the castle) was destroyed in a fire in 1880.
Now, the site of Kubota Castle is called “Senshu Park”, and it has been open to the public since 1890.
The park area covers 162,900 square meters.
