The Tsuchizaki-Minato Port Area Historical Museum was established in order to inherit the local history and culture of the Tsuchizaki area, and allow this information to serve as a basis for the citizen-centered development of human resources as well as town planning and revitalization projects. This museum is also tasked, as its mission states, to support the citizens’ activities pertaining to the tradition of the Hikyama rituals, and to preserve the memories of the air raid of Tsuchizaki in 1945. In addition, the institution aims to collect, preserve, and exhibit records and promote learning of the history and culture of Tsuchizaki.
