Gempaku Sugita, Ryotaku Maeno and others translated a Dutch book of anatomy, Ontleedkundige Tafelen, to Japanese and published it in 1774. Naotake Odano joined the project and copied the illustrations from the original. He copied mostly from the Ontleedkundige Tafelen, but also from the books on anatomy by Thomas Bartholin, Stephen Blankaart, Caspar Bartholin the Elder, Volcher Coyter, and Ambroise Paré. The sources are indicated by abbreviations in Chinese characters.
