Overview of Nyudozaki Lighthouse

The first Nyudozaki lighthouse was lit up on November 8, 1898 for the first time. The present white tower with reinforced concrete was completed on June 8, 1951. It is 27.92 meters tall above the ground and 57 meters high above sea level, and is situated at 40°0’18” North and 139°42’06” East. Due to its lantern of 530,000 candela and the large third order Fresnel lens which emits white light every 15 seconds, the light has a range of approximately 37 kilometers. The Akita Coast Guard office is in charge of maintenance (Tel: 018-845-1624).
